What do you love about the Church?

Disciples Today is running a sort of contest to hear why people love their church. We'd love to hear what you think about the Lawrence Church! Here's what they need from you:

Send an article or a 1-2 minute video that includes:

1. Your name and local ICOC church
2. When and where you became a disciple 
3. What you love about your church

Here are some topic examples:

• Focus on God, Scriptures, 
• Purpose: to love God and each other, 
• Mission: to seek and save the lost 
• One another relationships: discipling, encouraging, challenging, serving 
• How your life has changed 
• Leadership 
• Serving the poor 
• Love for children 
• Seeking God first

Articles:
• 300 to 1,000 words
• We will proofread. We just need your story.
• Include a recent, good quality photo of you shot in good light and focus

Videos:
• 1 – 2 minutes
• Send us a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video with good lighting and sound
• Send your video as a file

Celebrating Hayley

Sunday we lost a very dear friend and sister in the Lord. Although we are very sad to see her go, we are grateful for the chance to celebrate her beautiful life together. There has been an outpouring of love and appreciation for her in many different places. If you would like to come to our celebration of her, please sign up for the event below. The information will be available there as well, but here are the details:

This Saturday, July 27th, come join family and friends for a celebration of the life of the coffee-loving, snarky, world-traveling, wonderful wife and woman we know as Hayley!

The celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1000 Kentucky St., Lawrence, KS. Feel free to come a little early to visit. A luncheon for close friends and family will follow afterward at 11:30 a.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Warren-McElwain funeral home, located here. 

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation to an organization with which she was involved, such as Tenants to Homeowners or HOPE Worldwide.

Love in the Air, and a New Look

Love is in the Air!

Hello world! Today, many are celebrating (or perhaps even protesting) Valentine's Day. What a great topic on which to focus - love! Love is most certainly worth celebrating. Today, whether or not you have a "special someone," know that there is One who sees you as special, and He is worth celebrating.

The New Look

Also, as you may have noticed, our website looks quite a bit different. The previous site was great...for 10 years ago. We hope that this edition will serve you well for a few years into the future. With the popularity of smartphones and tablets increasing, we made sure that it will work well on those types of devices, too. If you aren't already on one, try accessing the site from one, and you'll see that much of the content here will readjust on its own! (You can even shrink this window down to see the effect)

More importantly, we want to make it worth your while to be here. Have a look at some of the different pages to see what's included. Want to listen to a recent sermon? Not sure when the next group meeting takes place? Need access to a Bible study series? Over time, we will make adjustments to what you see here, but if you have any suggestions, our inbox is open.
